HITA membership classifications are based on the experience of the members.  All HITA member inspectors are required to be licensed Home Inspectors by the state of Tennessee.  The licensure requirements include:

• Adhere to the Tennessee Code of Ethics
• Follow or exceed the Tennessee Standard of Practice
• Pass the National Home Inspectors Exam
• Provide proof of General Liability and Errors and Omission Insurance
• Meet or exceed education and continuing education requirements

HITA Inspectors (HI) is for someone in the process of fulfilling the requirements of a HITA Certified Inspector (HCI) designated below, but has not yet obtained certification.
HITA Certified Inspectors (HCI) must meet all above requirements, pass peer review of reports and provide proof of 100 fee paid inspections.
HITA Certified Master Inspectors (HCMI) meet all of the above requirements and must provide proof of completion of 500 fee paid inspections.
