August 6, 2022

Our regularly scheduled Summer Continuing Education will be presented at United Structural Systems in Pleasant View, TN on Saturday, August 6th, registration beginning at 7:30 am CDT, classes starting at 8:00. Pencil this into your schedule, or better yet, go ahead and register so it's done.

We will be having elections for the next term at this meeting. It is very important that all members participate so we can choose the best Officers to help our organization continue to provide the educational and peer support that benefits our southeastern home inspectors.

Classes will be posted as soon as we get them arranged and approved by the State. Watch the website for more details.

Thank you for being the best part of HITA!

Come help make a difference in HITA!

I am asking all members to seriously consider joining us in some capacity as a Board or Committee member. Elections are Saturday, August 6th in Pleasant View at the Summer meeting.

If you would like to run for a spot on the board, please contact me as soon as possible so you can be added to the ballot. Qualifications and Duties for the different positions are on the HITA website. If you would like to nominate a member to the board, please do so in writing, an email to me, and I will reach out to the member to see if they are willing.

HITA is a totally volunteer-ran non-profit organization. We, every two years, hold open elections to fill the seats of our Board of Directors. Those seats consist of:

President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Directors - East, Middle, West and At-Large, Director of Education, Director of Membership, and Director of Social Media.

We Don't Expect Something for Nothing

In appreciation of the members that serve to help grow our organization, all elected Board of Director members receive their HITA membership free for the term of their service. Also, as it is required that all board members attend quarterly Board meetings, normally held the evening prior to Continuing Education classes, a Stipend of $200.00 per meeting for each attendee is given to help offset extra expenses incurred by being present early, normally having to have lodging. If a committee member is requested to attend a board meeting, they too will receive the Stipend.

If a member is elected to the Board, it is required of the member to attend all Board meetings. If the member misses three (3) consecutive meetings without a just reason, they will be removed from the board and be required to pay their membership dues, prorated from the time of removal, to remain in HITA.

The duties and qualifications for each of these positions can be found in the By-Laws found on the HITA Website.

We also have many committees that help this organization run smoothly when utilized as intended. As a newer member, participating in one or more of these committees could be a great stepping stone into joining the Board. They are:

Marketing Committee (2 or more members), Changes and Amendments Committee (2 or more members), Election Committee (2 or more members), EXPO committee (1 or more members in conjunction with the Education Director)

We will be discussing upcoming elections at the May 7th meeting coming up next Saturday in Knoxville. Please plan to attend and participate in this all so important part of helping HITA be all it can be for our Volunteer State Home Inspectors!

If you have any questions, or would like to nominate yourself (Yes! Please step up on your own if you will!) or another qualified member, email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call me at 423-664-3860.

It takes a Village to Raise an Organization to it's Full Potential!

Looking forward to seeing you Saturday in Knoxville!

Walter Culbreth, III
Oak Ridge, TN

Walter Earl Culbreth, III, a.k.a. Coach Wallie. Sometimes in one's life you meet that one person who will change it forever! Whether you were family, friend, soccer family, State Farm family, or just an occasional acquaintance you knew automatically Wallie was one of those rare people. I was not only lucky enough to call him my husband but also my best friend. Wallie considered his children and grandchildren to be his greatest blessings. For those close to Wallie you know he was preceded in death by his daughter Brooke Marie Culbreth, know that I am sure they are having a wonderful reunion right now. Born January 2, 1955 to Walter Earl, Jr. and Peg Culbreth, he entered this world as a force to be reckoned with. He was born with a sense of humor and a wonderful caring nature that will surely be missed. His greatest joys were spending time with his family and ordering his "BOYS" around the soccer field. Being the Farragut High School Boys Soccer Coach was to him one of the greatest honors. Wallie was a State Farm Agent for the last 30 years and made it his life's work to make sure his family, friends and policyholders had the policies they needed.
Wallie is survived by me his wife, Dionna (Dee Dee) Culbreth; parents, Walter, Jr. and Peg Culbreth; sons, Walter Earl, IV, Bradley Culbreth and wife Megan, and Ethan Dyer; brothers, Howard and wife Sherri Culbreth and Craig and Gail Culbreth; grandchildren, Collyns, Casen, Colton and Brody Culbreth; nieces and nephews, Josh, Amber, Jeremy, Lindsey, Jonathan, Todd, Katie, Keiffer, Gabriel, Victoria, Ericka, Kenneth; special cousins, Jim and Ken Malpass, Lisa Jensen, Danny Philemon, and too many more to name; aunt and uncle Judy and Roger May; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Natoshia, Kenny, Tony, Diane and Tammy and Todd; special friends Luis Gonzalez, Don and India Hando, David and Sherry Chong, and many more.
I was honored to have been able to write this even though there's no way I could ever do justice in expressing how lucky and enriched I was to have been able to be the one who spent the rest of his life with him. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday July 26, 2016 starting at 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday July 27, 2016 at Pleasant Forest Cemetery in Farragut.
